Seashells

other kids tumble along sea shores

like somersaulting seashells

 with parents who chase

them

with doughnuts

and tuck them into seahorse pockets

where i suppose…

there are warm showers

and hot chocolate.

but

you won’t find

us

there

marked for fun

look

out here

somewhere beyond

strands

see us

see us too?

 bits of broken glass

lost

at sea

rolling around slimy weeds,

fishy hands

and we don’t know

what to do

with

rust color

incest crabs

which chase our feet

like vapors

of a wet hissing cat

it bites us

because

it hates us

i guess

there are no marshmallows

i have looked.

hot chocolate

going once

going twice

gone

our arms grow weak

as pink jelly

strewn across beaches

and just

when

i

know

this incremental death

is our life

check it out

the sun!

 it’s rising!

on the horizon!

see it?

hey you !

hey you kid !

bobbing around with your eyes full of salt

look!

see him?

theres a guy over there!

walking on water

yeah , i know it’s crazy

but

i bet there are doughnuts

in his pockets

yeah

something good is about to happen
